Spring Yard Cleanup Checklist for the Eastern Shore
By Jenn, Evergreen Lawn Care LLC · October 2026
When the weather warms up, the yard shows what winter left behind. Work through these steps, in this order, and your property will look ready for the season.
1. Clear debris
Remove fallen branches, leftover leaves and trash from the lawn and beds.
2. Cut back and clean up beds
Trim back dead growth from perennials and grasses, and pull early weeds before they spread.
3. Define your edges
Clean edges along beds, walks and driveways give the whole yard a sharper look.
4. Prune what needs it
Trim damaged or dead branches. Wait on flowering shrubs until after they bloom so you don't cut off the flowers.
5. Add mulch
A fresh layer, about two to three inches, helps hold moisture and limit weeds through summer.
6. Do the first mow
Start mowing when the grass is actively growing, and make sure your blades are sharp.
