How to Choose a Landscaper Who Actually Shows Up
By Jenn, Evergreen Lawn Care LLC · October 2026
If you've ever hired someone for your yard and then waited for a crew that never came, you're not alone. It's one of the most common frustrations we hear from homeowners. Here's how to avoid it.
Questions to ask before you hire
- Is the estimate clear? You should know what's included, what's not, and how the price is set before any work starts.
- How do they communicate? Do they answer calls and texts? If they're slow to reply before you hire them, expect the same after.
- Can they show real work? Ask for photos of actual jobs, and look for before-and-after pictures from yards like yours.
- What happens if the weather changes the schedule? A good company tells you, instead of just not showing up.
- Do they have reviews you can read? Look at Google reviews from real customers in your area.
Red flags
- A price that changes after the work begins.
- No written or texted estimate.
- Pressure to decide on the spot.
- No photos, no reviews, no way to see past work.
What a good estimate looks like
It names the services, the property, and the price, in plain language. If something is unclear, a good company is happy to explain it.
